Low income tax offsets

Recent amendments to the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 have introduced a new tax offset, the Low and Middle Income Tax Offset. This new tax offset applies to those considered to be low or middle income earners and is applied concurrently with the Low Income Tax Offset.

The Low and Middle Income Tax Offset applies from 1 July 2018 until 30 June 2022 where the current Low Income Tax Offset is merged with the Low and Middle Income Tax Offset. From 1 July 2022, only a new Low Income Tax Offset applies.
